Abt Associates – Healthy Mother Healthy Baby, Tajikistan

Dimagi is partnering with Abt Associates in the USAID-funded Healthy Mother Healthy Baby (HMHB) project that aims to establish and augment digital transformation in the Republic of Tajikistan. The Healthy Mother, Healthy Baby (HMHB) Activity expands USAID’s maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) and nutrition investments in Tajikistan as the country introduces new health strategies. It is a multi-year project with a mandate to make sustainable improvements in the ability of the Government of Tajikistan to deliver quality maternal and child health and nutrition services. The project focuses on building the technical capacity, leadership, management, and policy reform potential of Tajikistan.

Healthy Mother Healthy Baby aims to improve the quality of healthcare, increase access to health services, and help meet increasing demand in the 12 districts of the Khatlon region in Tajikistan. A suite of applications will be developed as part of the project across a range of areas such as facility assessment, training tracking and supervision, routine surveys for understanding knowledge, access and practice (KAP) to WASH and nutrition topics as well as a maternal and child health and nutrition tracking app that supports healthcare workers with antenatal, postpartum and postnatal care service delivery. Since the project focuses on nutrition in an effort to reduce malnutrition during pregnancy and in children under 5 years old, the app will therefore also include gravidogram and growth monitoring components. All the data that is collected using CommCare will be sent to DHIS2 for reporting and visualization and also to a server at the Republican Center for Medical Statistics and Information to expedite decision-making.
