Dimagi ranked as one of the highest-scoring businesses with standout employee engagement, Inc. Magazine 2017

We’re excited to announce today that Dimagi was named one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces 2017.

The list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies who have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits. Out of thousands of applicants, Inc. singled out just over 200 winning companies.

Built in partnership with employee engagement and work culture experts Quantum Workplace of Omaha, Nebraska, Inc.’s Best Workplaces list evaluates how companies hire and retain top talent. What does it take to become a company that workers want to be part of? Inc. magazine says it’s more than good pay and good perks – it’s also about having a clear purpose, a sense of humor, and leadership that makes the two work together.

As a social enterprise, we couldn’t agree more that a shared sense of purpose is a powerful unifying force,” Jonathan Jackson, CEO of Dimagi said. “At Dimagi, we develop and deploy technology to impact people in need. This shared goal of creating impact bonds us, and creates a fulfilling work environment for our employees.”

Of course, great benefits help.

Rikimah Glymph, Global Director of People Operations at Dimagi, shared a few highlights from Dimagi’s benefits package.

Work perks are important; we want our employees to feel rewarded,” Glymph said. “We strive to provide our employees with a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including 100% health insurance premiums for employees and their dependents paired with an employer sponsored HSA, a flexible work schedule with 30-days of paid time off, and opportunities for international travel to learn, meet with our colleagues abroad, and see our project work in action.”

Glymph shared how her team listens and takes feedback on the benefits package seriously.

We recently added Domestic Partnerships, both same and opposite sex, to the list of dependents who are eligible for Dimagi’s health insurance. This was something the Dimagi team valued highly, and we worked hard to incorporate it as part of our benefits package.”

Workplace Culture Isn’t Static

What’s ahead for Dimagi’s culture? The saying, “can’t stop, won’t stop,” comes to mind.

We’re proud of this accomplishment, and believe it is a testament to the talented 120+ team we have in place across our five global country offices,” Jackson said. “However, if there’s one thing we’ve learned at Dimagi, it’s that culture isn’t static it evolves and changes as a company grows. You have to nurture the best parts and fix the challenges. We’ll continue to build upon our strong foundation to make Dimagi an even better place to work in 2018.”

More on the 2017 Inc. Best Workplaces Awards

The 2017 Inc. Best Workplaces Awards assessed applicants on the basis of benefits offered and employees’ responses to a unique, 30-question survey fielded by each of the applying companies. Responses were evaluated by the research team at Quantum Workplace. For its results to qualify, each company had to achieve a statistically significant response rate based on employee count. Survey scores account for employer size to level the playing field between small and large businesses. All companies had to have minimum of 10 employees and to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent – that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.

While researching the entries, Inc. and Quantum saw distinct themes develop:

  • Strong company cultures breed stunning individual and team performance.
  • Workers at the best companies don’t view their employers as sugar daddies. They aren’t mesmerized by whatever giveaways seem to be the latest fad—be it gourmet lunches or beer fridges.
  • When employees feel valued by their organization, they are far more likely to be engaged. This single factor proved to be one of the largest drivers of employee engagement.
