Jordan Levinson

Field Manager

Jordan Levinson arrived in India to work as a data analyst for a public health think-tank, but soon discovered that her passion for leveraging open-source technologies for community development had an outlet at Dimagi. Her background is an even split between scientific research, community program implementation and music, with more than a bit of wandering thrown in for good measure. She has lived and worked in Latin America, West Africa, and now the Subcontinent, and can’t wait to see what’s up next.

Before starting with Dimagi, Jordan was a community health worker in outer Brooklyn and singer in a post-rock band. She served with Peace Corps Senegal in the southern town of Kolda, where she worked with local NGOs to start a vocational school for sustainable agriculture and started a youth group for burgeoning hip-hop stars. She tried her hand in the startup world, piloting a tool meant to connect travelers with local volunteer opportunities, and ended up falling in love with the social enterprise space via the Center for Social Innovation in NYC. She started her career working on pandemic prediction for EcoHealth Alliance, contributing to the global ‘hotspots’ database of emerging infectious disease events and publishing a study of zoonotic virus surveillance strategies. She holds
degrees in International Community Health from New York University and in Cultural Anthropology from Colby College, and grew up in the Hudson Valley region of New York. Her passions include human expression, social justice, clean data, and spontaneous travel.
