Dimagi India

Working across 17 states, Dimagi's India team is developing mobile systems that improve last mile service delivery - including for ICDS-CAS, one of the largest digital health projects in India.

Based out of our New Delhi office, Dimagi’s India staff manage over 60 projects in 17 states – ranging from small proof of concepts through nationally scaling deployments. Our team of technical implementers, project managers, and engineers bring significant experience helping organizations at local, regional, and national levels adopt mobile apps for their frontline programs.

Highlighted Projects – India

Scale up of CommCare for Community Nutrition Across 8 States in India

Through a partnership with the Government of India and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a CommCare-based application is being scaled across 8 Indian states to strengthen the monitoring of the service delivery of Anganwadi Centres in the country. The CommCare mobile application is intended to replace the extensive paper registers Anganwadi workers are required to maintain.  The app is designed to improve the care Anganwadi workers provide their communities, tracking distribution of immunizations & supplementary food, attendance of children at preschool and the nutrition status of children up to age five. The scale-up is built off a pilot that was deployed to 500 Anganwadi workers in Bihar, India through a project with CARE (see the case study below).

Read more about this project through the press release, guidelines for states implementing ICDS-CAS, the Anganwadi worker app manual, and project meeting notes.

Reducing Maternal & Newborn Deaths – ReMiND (Catholic Relief Services in Uttar Pradesh)

ReMiND is well known as a leading example of best practices for using mobile technology for key maternal and newborn health practices. Catholic Relief Services uses CommCare to help Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) counsel and evaluate women and newborns for pregnancy and postpartum danger signs. ASHAs use CommCare to register and track pregnant patients from pregnancy through the postpartum period, as well as newborns. Over 200 ASHAs use CommCare, reaching over 20,000 women and children. Scaling CommCare to Deliver Better Community Health to Millions throughout India (USAID & 40+ partners in India)

Thanks to support from Stage 1 & 2 USAID Development Innovations Ventures grants, Dimagi equipped 40 organizations in India with CommCare applications for frontline workers across numerous sectors – including health, finance, education, and agriculture. Dimagi rapidly built capacity of organizations to use mobile solutions, as well as rigorously evaluated the benefit of mobile solutions within the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) program in India.
