Mobile Technology to Manage Goods and Materials: Dimagi Accepting Applications for Small Grants in India & Nepal
Are you an organization in India or Nepal looking to manage your goods and materials better through the use of mobile phones?
Dimagi, an award-winning social enterprise with projects in over 35 countries, as well as 15 states in India, is seeking partners in India and Nepal to launch new mobile programs with CommTrack, its innovative, Open Source, mobile phone-based tool for grassroots supply chain management. CommTrack creates value across a variety of sectors:
-
Health: reduce stockouts and ensure proper usage of commodities by ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and other health workers
-
Social Enterprise: improve profit, reduce waste, and avoid theft or damage to goods through real-time tracking throughout your distribution network
-
Disaster Response: faster, more reliable delivery of food and shelter after a crisis
-
Agriculture: optimize movement of crops to market and improve seed or fertilizer estimates
-
Livelihoods: build the capacity of rural populations to manage and distribute goods
If selected, your organization will receive free software, up to 10 mobile phones, server space, and field support to help you launch your own customized CommTrack project.
Why CommTrack?
CommTrack leverages the power of the mobile phone in the most rural or resource-poor regions of the world to ensure availability of goods and materials; cut down delivery times; intelligently predict orders; and protect against loss or theft – ultimately leading to improved profit and sustainability for individuals and organizations. It works in any language and can operate on a wide range of platforms, including SMS, Nokia phones, Android smartphones, and tablets. With successful deployments of the first generation of CommTrack already reaching national scale in many low-resource countries, we are pleased to be expanding our work across multiple sectors in India and Nepal.
What will be awarded?
Five organizations will each receive 10 free phones installed with CommTrack, free access to our cloud-based server for one year, and one month cumulative of free in-country field support from our team. This is made possible through generous support from USAID’s Development Innovation Ventures program.
How to apply?
Download the short application on our RFA website (www.commtrack.org/poc/commtrack) and read about successes from current projects using CommTrack. The application deadline is December 23, 2013 and awardees will be notified by January 24, 2014. Successful applicants will be supported to launch their projects within six months of the award date.
If you have any additional questions, please email poc-applications@dimagi.com.
